Well after 12 hours with minimal change,we decided to head to the hospital to get checked out. We are there now and we’re waiting to see if they’re going to send us home or not. More news as it comes!
PS – I’m posting from my phone right now so please excuse the brevity and typos
EDIT 9:58pm – Okay so it looks like we’re staying here tonight. Still not into the full-on labor yet, this is going to be a long one. Labor started around 6am this morning.

Hey everyone,
Well you all have been really awesome about not bombarding us since I made my last post, thank you! Since you’ve been so good, and I *did* solemnly swear, I thought I’d let you all know that Jenny is now having some very early labor contractions. They’re still kind of irregular, but they’re definitely not the “practice” ones. More than that I can’t say… we’re kind of new at this.
We weren’t sure whether to tell anyone or not since it will be hours yet before anything happens, but I reminded Jenny that I promised and so she had to agree. That doesn’t mean you can bombard us now, by the way! We’ll still keep you posted when we go to the hospital and such, don’t worry.
Oh and Uncle Tad, Chung and Matt Weinberg may want to keep a close eye on this space!

Shh, I Have a Secret!

You wanna hear my secret? It’s a shocker… you might want to be sitting down for this one: Freckle was born a week ago and we didn’t tell anyone.
Hard to believe? That’s because it’s not true! Why in the world would we keep something like that a secret? We wouldn’t. In fact, I can say with authority, that we will be posting on the blog and on FaceBook as soon as Jenny shows any signs of anything happening. We will likely be posting updates through the whole process. I’ll be shooting photos and posting them. This will be a public event.
Why do I mention this? Because it seems like every 5 minutes or so, someone else is calling, texting, FaceBooking, or just plain asking about how things are going. It’s making me anxious and uncomfortable. Trust me, we’re all ready to go and we’re just waiting. Being constantly reminded of the fact that crazy shit is about to go down is very stressful for me.
So let’s make a deal. I SOLEMNLY SWEAR TO PUBLICIZE ANY PERTINENT NEWS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. All I ask from you is to have some self-control and patience and stop asking me about it. TIA!

I’ve Come A Long Way

I was just looking over some old posts and I saw a picture Dan took of me when I was 6 months pregnant and all I can think of was, “Wow! Look how small I was!” In fact, even my picture at 7 months, my belly looked so small compared to what it is right now. I definitely FEEL a lot bigger!
Oh, Freckle, Mama’s ready to meet you. Also, Mama knows you are comfortable in her belly, but she is beginning to feel really “over” the whole pregnant thing. C’mon out! Everyone’s eager to meet you!!!

Still Waiting…

I just returned from the doctor’s office and I’m happy to say that everything is moving along nicely with Freckle. She measured him, listened to his heartbeat, and made sure he was in a good position for labor.
There are only two days left until the due date and it is looking like he may go past his due date a bit. Dan and I will keep everyone posted of updates. Good luck to everyone still in the Baby Pool!

One Week To Go?
05 Aug 2012 3 Comments
The crib and bassinet are assembled, the walls are decorated, the dresser is stocked, the stuffed animals are lined up and waiting patiently, the hospital bag is packed, Jenny has heard every well-wish and I’ve heard every scary story at least twice. We are all ready to meet you, Freckle. Come out and play (and poop and cry and sleep)!

Now, We Wait

Like Dan has mentioned in a previous post, Freckle is considered a full-term baby. All his organs have been developed and he is ready to make his debut any day now. All I have to do in the meantime is to fatten him up a bit so that he will be fine until his mama’s milk is produced and he can be nourished! I think I’ll be able to handle that… 🙂

Post Baby Meals

There are several things a mother must abstain from eating or drinking while pregnant. Luckily, it hasn’t been too difficult for me to stay on track with my diet. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t certain foods that I miss. Below is a list of things I would like to eat almost immediately after Freckle is born:
- Ahi Poke
- Sushi
- Korean Sesame Bean Sprouts
- Apple/Brie Bruschetta
- V. Sattui Dry Riesling
- Iced Mocha
Note: I do not necessarily need to eat all that in one meal. 😛

37 Weeks!
21 Jul 2012 1 Comment
While Jenny and I are still debating on whether 37 weeks was on Thursday or is tomorrow, it’s clear that it’s almost time for Freckle to rear his hapa head! This is a big milestone because it’s means that if Freckle popped out tomorrow, he’d still be considered “full term”.
Here’s what 37 weeks looks like. Three different strangers have asked Jenny if it’s going to be a boy (nobody suggested girl!) so apparently it’s also what a boy at that age looks like. Sure it’s not the best photo from a technical standpoint, but you can’t beat that radiant smile!
By the way, we have 33 people signed up for the baby pool now! If you haven’t signed up yet, there are still plenty of open slots. It’s free and the winner gets a surprise!

36-Week Update
19 Jul 2012 Leave a Comment
Sorry we haven’t posted an entry in awhile. Dan and I have been pretty busy and keep forgetting to update the blog.
I’ve been on maternity leave for almost a week at this point. Surprisingly, I’ve been able to keep busy the entire day. There are always places to go, people to call, or things to do at home. Freckle’s crib, changing table and dresser are all set up. Below are a couple pictures.
There are still a few items we need to purchase. For example, you will notice the crib does not have a mattress in it. We’re waiting on the Completion Coupon from Babies R Us to get 10% off the remaining items on our baby registry. Luckily, we have so many generous friends and family that we’ve got plenty of gift cards to use towards that purchase.
This weekend, our goals are to clear up our living room of boxes and to take a picture of Freckle and me to show how big he is getting! This baby is kicking and punching a lot still. Every time we go to visit the doctor and she’s trying to listen to his heartbeat, he’s moving around. We really need to get him into a martial arts class ASAP to let go some of that energy!
More pictures to come!
